Free Unzipping Programs

CAM UnZip This is an easy-to-use .zip file utility that lets you open, create and modify .zip files quickly. CAM UnZip offers many handy extra features, including password-protected .zip file support. It also lets you view files in an archive before you extract them.
EasyZip A powerful, easy-to-use freeware zip and unzip utility, EasyZip offers a good interface and all the bells and whistles of the most popular commercial archive programs. This program features integration with Windows (including extracting archives and zipping files directly from Windows Explorer); checking for viruses in archive; drag and drop; and more.
JustZIPit Is a tiny freeware ZIP program (a free WinZip alternative) which simplifies ZIP compression to the bare bone! Discarding all clunky gadgets and wizards, JustZIPit ZIPs and Unzips with just one click from your context menu.
Info-Zip UnZip 5.52: UnZip is an extraction utility for archives compressed in .zip format (also called "zipfiles"). Although highly compatible both with PKWARE's PKZIP and PKUNZIP utilities for MS-DOS and with Info-ZIP's own ZIP program, our primary objectives have been portability and non-MSDOS functionality. UnZip will list, test, or extract files from a .zip archive, commonly found on MS-DOS systems. The default behavior (with no options) is to extract into the current directory (and subdirectories below it) all files from the specified zipfile. A companion program, Zip , creates .zip archives; both programs are compatible with archives created by PKZIP and PKUNZIP for MS-DOS, but in many cases the program options or default behaviors differ. (For example, UnZip recreates the stored directory structure by default; PKUNZIP unpacks all files in the current directory by default.)

Ad-Aware Is designed to provide advanced protection from known Data-mining, aggressive advertising, Parasites, Scumware, selected traditional Trojans, Dialers, Malware, Browser hijackers, and tracking components. With the release of Ad-Aware SE Personal edition, Lavasoft takes the fight against Spyware to the next level.
Cwshredder A small utility for removing CoolWebSearch (aka CoolWwwSearch, YouFindAll, White-Pages.ws and a dozen other names. This program is updated to remove the new variants once they come out.
SpyBot

Spybot - Search & Destroy can detect and remove spyware of different kinds from your computer. Spyware is a relatively new kind of threat that common anti-virus applications do not yet cover. If you see new toolbars in your Internet Explorer that you didn't intentionally install, if your browser crashes, or if you browser start page has changed without your knowing, you most probably have spyware
StartupList A simple tool that lists all and every auto starting program on your system. You might be surprised what it finds, this is way better than Msconfig. Commonly used to troubleshoot malfunctioning systems, trojan/viral infections, new spyware/malware.
SpyWareBlaster Spyware, adware, browser hijackers, and dialers are some of the fastest-growing threats on the Internet today. By simply browsing to a web page, you could find your computer to be the brand-new host of one of these unwanted fiends! SpywareBlaster can help keep your system spyware-free and secure, without interfering with the "good side" of the web. And unlike other programs, SpywareBlaster does not have to remain running in the background.

Hard Drive Untilities

This program will completely erase your hard drive and set everything back to ZERO. Unzip the program to a clean floppy then reboot the computer with the floppy and follow instructions. Once the drive is zeroed out, you reboot and get into SETUP (CMOS) and reset the clock, date, auto detect the drive etc. You will have to partition and format . - WARNING this will wipe the hard drive completely clean and you will loose all data. I'm not responsible for any data lose or damage to your hard drive. Download and run at your own risk.
Wipe Out As the name implies, this utility will absolutely WIPE your hard drive. For those times when an industrial strength cleaner is needed to remove any pesky files Fdisk may have left behind. A readme file is included in the zip file. WARNING...WIPE OUT will remove ALL data from the Hard Drive.
The purpose of DUG_IDE is to show you the low level information of the IDE hard disks in your system. It will only work with IDE drives. The information shown is number of heads, sectors, cylinders and model number, serial number and other IDE information. Included is the "C" source code. I have included an executable file created with the Symantec C++ compiler. To install the program, just copy the DUG_IDE.EXE to a bootable DOS/Win95 floppy disk and reboot the computer. Run the DUG_IDE program by typing DUG_IDE at the A: prompt. The program is Copyright (C) 1998 by Doug Merrett. You may distribute freely, but no modifications without emailing me a copy. No profit can be made for distribution.

Memory Programs

DocMemory An advanced self-bootable PC Memory Diagnostic Software is a user friendly software designed to capture all possible memory failures in PC. Memtest86 Memtest86 is thorough, stand alone memory test for x86 architecture computers. BIOS based memory tests are a quick, cursory check and often miss many of the failures that are detected by Memtest86.
The Windows Memory Diagnostic tests the Random Access Memory (RAM) on your computer for errors. The diagnostic includes a comprehensive set of memory tests. If you are experiencing problems while running Windows, you can use the diagnostic to determine whether the problems are caused by failing hardware, such as RAM or the memory system of your motherboard. Windows Memory Diagnostic is designed to be easy and fast. Registry Utilities

This utility cleans your Registry of unnecessary entries that were created when you installed or uninstalled programs on your computer. This release of the utility fixes a few problems and creates an "undo.reg" file so that you can undo changes you inadvertently make to the Registry.
Registry Commander 1.03
 Use this application as a replacement for the registry editor that comes with Windows. It can perform cut, copy and paste, advanced search, and change value type. You can bookmark keys and values and there's support for types other than just strings, dword and binary values. Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows2000, Windows XP, Windows 2003
Safely cleans junk out of the Windows 2000/XP system registry. All changes made to the registry are fully restorable to it's original condition. You can make an exclusion list of registry entries that RegScrubXP will not display as problems. You can sift through a list of file extensions, company names, "run upon startup" programs, Internet Explorer history, and uninstall programs to delete what you think is junk. Highly recommend this program.

Other Utilities

The Belarc Advisor builds a detailed profile of your installed software and hardware and displays the results in your Web browser. All of your PC profile information is kept private on your PC and is not sent to any web server.
EVEREST Home Edition is a freeware1 hardware diagnostics and memory benchmarking solution for home PC users, based on the award-winning EVEREST Technology. It offers the world's most accurate hardware information and diagnostics capabilities, including online features, memory benchmarks, hardware monitoring, and low-level hardware information.
This is the script from PC911 that will add your Word Spell Checker to your Right Click Menu. Yeah, pretty cool. But, you need to be using IE 5 or better, and Windows Scripting Host 5.1 or better. So, I would also recommend you install Jason Levine's "Script Sentry", just to be safe. (On the OutLurk page...of course.)
A free program, made to allow people to use Spell Checker in Outlook Express . This is a stand alone application, that incorporates in Outlook Express. The purpose of this program, is to supply for free the ability to use Spelling in OE, without the need to purchase other software, such as MS Word,Works, or Office.
Can be run from within Windows. Will give you information about the sound card that is installed.
ieSpell is a free Internet Explorer browser extension that spell checks text input boxes on a webpage. It should come in particularly handy for users who do a lot of web-based text entry (e.g. web mails, forums, blogs, diaries). Even if your web application already includes spell checking functionality, you might still want to install this utility because it is definitely much faster than a server-side solution. Plus you get to store and use your personal word list across all your applications, instead of maintaining separate ones on each application.
A Ghouldini recommendation. This Marc Bjorklund creation allows you to split any file into pieces of any size and later reconstruct the pieces to form the original file. You can span floppies, or break up pix for e-mailing. This is the latest and final version.

The free Pop-Up Stopper prevents them (and pop-under windows) from displaying. You can have sounds notify you when a pop-up has been blocked. The program also allows you to briefly disable the blocking by double-clicking the system tray icon or by pressing Shift or Ctrl when following a new link. This version features a new ad-blocking technology, an improved interface, and more sound and visual options to play when an ad is blocked.

Free Anti-Virus Programs

Here's an outstanding freeware anti-virus utility that also offers you free monthly updates. An easy-to-use program, AVG features resident protection, an E-mail scanner and automatic healing of infected files. Note: this program is free for personal, home usage only. (For Windows).

This site offers a free online service that lets you scan your computer for viruses. They also offer free detection and removal tools that will rid your PC of the various viruses and worms that are currently circulating around the Net.
